I’m still amazed how many people are willing to lose their stack with a good pair. Im talking about Holdem poker game. Online poker or real poker has the same risks

Knowing how to lose a high pair is a good way of making sure you won’t lose money and learning to become a good player, and more importantly a better player.

Well, I was playing at this 10 player table on some site, and had 50$ at a table of .25/.50 Hold’em. I got a Q-Q in a small blind. It was a beautiful hand and when two players call, you raise it to 3$.

It was a big raise, of 6 blinds, but you probably guessed by now my true objectives. I wanted to end up heads up, where my pair had a bigger chance of winning and I wouldn’t get upset if I didn’t get the big jackpot right now.

Unfortunately, both players called and I had to play it in a bad position with my Q-Q.

The flop came a 7♠ – 8♠ – 4♣.

Damn it! This wasn’t the flop I needed to see, especially with two opponents in call. There are all kinds of draws here and it’s possible that someone caught on, seeing as it’s exactly the perfect flop for cards which are played good in pots with many participants. I’m thinking here at connectors of the same color of small and medium sized pairs.

Still my hand could be good here, for the being, because I know that I’m now playing against K-K or A-A. I would’ve gotten a re-raise before the flop. If that was the situation I would’ve bet 4$ reasonably, meaning half of the jackpot. This bet seemed small, but it was small enough to make someone pounce right on it.

Well a 5♦ falls right in this turn. This card isn’t as frightening as it seems, because someone should’ve called with a draw on full to complete the full. But still this means that any 6 would ruin me.This is the Holdem poker game risk

I’m in a tight spot and I have now idea how I’m viewed at the moment. I didn’t put much money in this hand and there are more than one combinations that can dominate me. I considered that a check would be my best option. If this would lead to someone profiting my situation and eliminating my hand, then that’s it.

Having the given situation, I can easily fold anytime. On the river a 2♣ showed up, one of my rivals threw three 7 and the other one drawed on the black with an A. Damn. This clarifies everything. The second player bet his set on one turn, and the river scared him because there were color possibilities, so he checked and his rival, missing the draw, responded with a check.

What can I say, I got out easy out of a complicated Holdem poker game situation. Poker online is great but you also have to risk a lot
